BIKING
The best biking trails for travelers are those that run through the green river valleys in and around the central region of Ubud. While biking in Bali, you can stop at the local shops and cafés in the interior regions of the island where you can strike up a great bargain and buy exotic local handicrafts and artwork.

Interested tourists can also approach local travel operators and opt for day biking trips or Weekend Mountain biking holiday packages. The tours usually comprise of a vehicular backup, and the breathtaking scenery of the island is sure to make the trip extremely memorable. Mountain biking in Bali is one of the locals’ favorite pastimes, and in recent years, it has become a favored mode of sightseeing and exploration of the island.

  TREKKING
Walking is an excellent way to feel the island, slow down to its pace, and get to those small villages with glimpses of rural Bali. It is possible to take a walking tour of all of Bali, using the back roads and trails that many of the villagers have used for centuries. These by-way passages take you out of modern-day life and into the Balinese culture, which is still very much intact. Whether you intend to walk your way through Bali, or just stroll for an hour, foot power is a great way to truly imbibe the spirit of this island. There are warungs in every village to rest your feet and have a cold drink. There are also springs, rivers, and baths along the way. With the aid of an experienced tour operator, you have the ability to trek through Bali’s picturesque mountains and rice paddies or its exotic jungles and beaches; the choices are entirely up to you.

Tampak Siring & The Palace
About a 15 minute drive from Villa Sarna, guests can visit the exquisite locale, Tampak Siring. Tampak Siring houses a sacred temple called Pura Tirta Empul, which was built around a holy spring in 926 AD and is historically believed to have magically curative powers. The temple complex is fronted by two public bathing pools, which have been used by the Balinese for over 1000 years for good health and prosperity. In present day, they have become increasingly popular amongst the locals and foreign visitors alike. This has led enterprising locals to set up rows of food and souvenir stalls near the entrance of the temple. En route to Tampak Siring, don’t forget to visit the stone-carving village of Batubulan, the silver and goldsmith village of Celuk, the woodcarving center of Mas, and the artists’ village of Ubud.

Also located in Tampak Siring is the President’s Palace, locally known as Istana Tampak Siring. It is exactly situated beside the complex of the Temple. The breathtaking palace used to be the residence of the first president of the Republic of Indonesia, Sukarno. The beautiful and impeccably maintained palace is now open for the public to enjoy.

  Beaches
About an hour drive from Villa Sarna, guests can enjoy a line of beautiful beaches that the island of Bali is blessed with.

On the Southeastern side of Bali, you can visit Sanur Beach; an excellent site to watch the sun rise, as you jog along the silky white sandy beach.  Only a stones throw away from the beach, ancient temples stand as solemn as they have been in centuries past.

Practically on the opposite side of Sanur, the beaches of Kuta and Legian stretch across the southwestern side of Bali. Surfing is a major activity in these beaches. Shops, Kecak dance performances, pubs, and other facilities make Kuta a tourist mecca.

Directly south of the airport, the village of Jimbaran is the narrow neck of the island of Bali, and thus it has two remarkably different beaches. On the west, Jimbaran Beach faces the Jimbaran Bay. On the east, the beach faces the body of water sheltered by Benoa Harbor.

Nusa Dua is a new luxurious resort area which boasts beautiful white beaches and crystal clear water, providing excellent snorkeling and diving sites.  Also, the waves on the northern and the southern part of Nusa Dua allow for great surfing opportunities.
